SONIC PIECES is a boutique record label launched in 2009. Over the last two decades, the label has released around 50 records which border between contemporary classical and avant-garde sounds. Monique Recknagel has been quietly curating and hand-crafting each release with focus on quality rather than quantity while slowly creating a small but strong community of artists. In August 2020, Sonic Pieces opened a store together with Miasmah in Berlin Schöneberg. It’s called mi — so and can be visited by appointment. Here we also host regular exhibitions and intimate in-store events.
As a further expansion into the artistic field, mi – so started an art book series in 2023. The limited publications are hand-crafted, using the same materials as the Sonic Pieces record covers and are printed with Risograph technique in Berlin.
